Moriya Jutanugarn: Rolex Rank – 32

Ariya Jutanugarn, In Gee Chun, Brooke Henderson, and Cristie Kerr are the top four players in the field this week. While any of them should be a solid pick to lead a fantasy team, none of them are my pick.

Ariya followed her win at the Manulife LPGA Classic with a T22 at the Meijer LPGA Classic and a missed cut at the KPMG WOmen’s PGA Classic. I’m not expecting much from her this week. She’s just keeping her game fresh and preparing for next week at Trump National.

I have much the same take on In Gee Chun and Brooke Henderson. These are players we expect to play at the top of the board at major championships and their sole purpose this week will be to keep their swings limber and on line.

Kristie Kerr is typically a good fantasy pick but she hasn’t shown much game since her T5 finish at the Lorena Ochoa Match Play and she missed the cut last week at Olympia Fields.

Minjee Lee would be a stronger pick that any of these higher-ranked players in terms of recent performance. She’s recorded three top-10s in her last four starts. Suzann Pettersen, while not playing at quite the level of Minjee Lee, could easily contend this week and would also be a solid pick, especially if you’re a Pettersen fan and have been waiting for her to wake up and play some golf.

My pick to lead my Thornberry Creek team is Moriya Jutanugarn. She has the strongest recent performance record in the group – three top-20s, four top-10s – including a runner-up – and no missed cuts since the LOTTE in April. Ranked 32nd in the world, Moriya Jutanugarn is getting close to notching her first Tour victory. With playing conditions nearly ideal this week and the field leveled by a lack of local knowledge, I’m looking for the elder Jutanugarn sister to play her heart out for the win.
