Greenbrier Classic

Sebastian Muñoz more than held on to his lead and, with a second round 67. He increased his edge over the chasing pack to three shots. That has to feel good for the Columbian rookie! Still, he’s only half-way there and the chasing pack includes Ben Martin and Hudson Swofford who trail by three and defending champion Danny Lee, Russell Henley, and Davis Love III, who start today just four shots off the rookie’s lead.

Here’s a sample of the game Muñoz has in his bag this week:

Phil Mickelson made the cut on the number. He and Tim are still working out their partnership. With three birdies and five bogeys on his second round card Lefty dropped down the board, but the brothers will go forward with two more rounds. We’ll see if this shakedown cruise yields benefits at Royal Birkdale.

There was a special guest at the Greenbrier on Friday:

The promise of The Claret Jug didn’t help D.A. Pointe, Billy Hurley III, Jim Herman, Kevin Kisner, or Dru Love. They’re among the players who have the weekend off.

Seamus Power and Jonathan Byrd start the moving day action at the Greenbrier at 8:20am with the final group, Muñoz and Martin, teeing off at 2pm. Golf Channel begins third round television coverage at 1pm and picks up the round again at 3pm. PGA TOUR LIVE begins day-long streaming at 7am. All times are ET.
