The Greenbrier Classic

Against all odds, Sebastian Muñoz held on to his lead at the Greenbrier and is going into Sunday with a two stroke edge over the chasing pack.  His 68 wasn’t as good as Robert Streb’s 65, which has put Streb within two.

In addition to Streb, Xander Schauffele, Jamie Lovemark, and Kelly Kraft also moved up the leaderboard on Saturday. Schauffele and Lovemark are starting at 11-under, trailing Muñoz by three and Kraft joins Love III and Russell Henley at 10-under and still within reach of the top of the board.

If his putter stays hot, it’s going to be hard to catch Muñoz. He’s leading the field in SG: putting (+9.181).

Meanwhile, defending champion Danny Lee, local favorite Bubba Watson, and one of the game’s enduring favorite sons, Phil Mickelson, didn’t fare so well on moving day. Bubba had a particularly difficult round. He just couldn’t seem to find the bottom of the cup – a problem I’m certain many of can identify with – and carded a 5-over 75.

With Muñoz and Schauffele battling for their first PGA TOUR win, Streb looking to remedy his 2014 Greenbrier playoff loss to Danny Lee and end a three year winless streak, and Davis Love III looking to set a PGA TOUR age record, Sunday should bring some fine play, with or without Mickelson, Watson, and Lee in the mix at the top of the board.

Golf Channel begins coverage of the final round at 1pm. PGA TOUR LIVE begins streaming at 2:30pm and CBS picks up the television broadcast at 3pm. All times are ET.
