More from Golf Power Rankings

Kyle Stanley finally broke through again with his win last week at the Quicken Loans National, and the biggest surprise was simply that it took so long. It was five long years since Stanley’s first win at the 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open, but when you look at his stats this year, he could easily have two or three more on his resume.

Averaging a hair under 300 yards from the tee, Stanley ranks 17th on TOUR in driving accuracy, with over 68 percent of fairways hit. His ball-striking on approach has been superb, ranking second in greens in regulation at nearly 72 percent of greens hit.

With an actual scoring average of 69.69 (fourth on TOUR), Stanley looks to be perfectly suited for the test at TPC Deere Run. With four top-25 finishes in his last six trips, highlighted by a runner-up finish in 2011, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Stanley gets in his own way here too much.

What better way would there be to prepare for The Open than with a win the week before?
