We’ll go with a Scottish double dip to begin this week’s power rankings. Perhaps a trip home to his home country will kickstart Russell Knox’ 2017 season.
The 32-year-old from Inverness has made a name for himself by showing gradual improvement throughout his career to ascend to as high as No. 18 at year’s beginning.
That improvement has plateaued with eight missed cuts in 16 starts this year, down from 47 of 58 between 2015-16.
Those results will all be water under the bridge if Knox can continue his fine form in his home open. He’s tied for 10th in the last two Scottish Open starts on top of a T27 in 2014. Knox had a chance to win before a poor final round in 2015 and was only five off the pace last year.
Like his countryman, Ramsay, Knox will benefit if Dundonald is playing fast. Knox is 148th on the PGA TOUR in driving distance (285.9 yards) but 15th in driving accuracy (68.9%).
