HARTFORD, WI – JUNE 17: Matt Kuchar of the United States plays a shot on the 11th hole during the third round of the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills on June 17, 2017 in Hartford, Wisconsin. (Photo by Andrew Redington/Getty Images) /

Matt Kuchar doesn’t always play in the Scottish Open, but he’s lethal when he does. The American tied for 2nd in 2015 and tied for 10th in 2011 in two career starts. He and Raphael Jacquelin were edged by Rickie Fowler in a playoff in ’15.

He’s known as one of the more consistent fantasy picks, as evidenced by eight straight made cuts and 11 of his last 12.

Kuchar’s done just about everything short of win in 2017 with a T4 at the Masters and a T4 at the Memorial, in which he was in contention going into Sunday.

A win this week can continue the trend of American winners every other year. Phil Mickelson won in 2013 and the No. 1 man on this list, Rickie Fowler, in 2015.

Kuchar’s No. 88 ranking on the PGA TOUR in strokes gained putting has been below his standard. That’s often fine on links courses if you’re accurate and can pick up strokes around the greens.

Kuchar’s hitting 65.75 percent of his fairways (36th) and 67.5 percent of greens (45th). If his accuracy fails him, he’s 17th in strokes gained around the greens ( .347) and 32nd in rough proximity (41 feet, six inches).
