Alex Noren enters as the tournament’s defending champ. He is also a winner recently at the BMW PGA Championship in May.

The jury’s still out on Noren’s abilities in the majors, but he’s been money in events leading up to them.

Replicating his 20 of 22 made cut mark with four wins in 2016 is likely impossible for the 35-year-old-to-be on Wednesday. He’s followed it up nicely, though, in 2017.

The Swede has three other top-10s to go with his win, including a T10 at the Open de France in his last start. Noren’s game travels well, as he owns wins in seven different countries.

His short game is his most trusty asset, which is always useful on links courses.

No one has won back-to-back at the Scottish Open and only Ian Woosnam and Ernie Els are multi-winners. With that said, it won’t be much of a surprise for the tournament’s third-highest ranked player to be in the mix.
