A value-driven field gives DraftKings players plenty of options at the 2017 John Deere Classic

The John Deere Classic is living up to its reputation as a summertime shootout. Fantasy managers are looking for players who give themselves the most scoring opportunities. The champions’ list here over the last decade – with names like Steve Stricker, Zach Johnson and Jordan Spieth – isn’t going to overpower a course, but they’re deadly accurate with their irons, and solid on and around the green.

With the Open Championship next week, this week’s field at TPC Deere Run isn’t as top-heavy as some others you’ll face throughout the year. You’ll be able to find solid value all over the board, especially if you focus on key stats like birdie-busters, greens in regulation and strokes gained on approach.

And, as always, the usual gambling caveats apply. This is targeted at cash game, full-tournament players in a standard format. With a team of six players and a $50,000 cap, finding a dark horse that strikes gold will often take you farther than just drafting studs. Please play responsibly, and as I like to remind people, this is a free column. If we can help you have more fun and maybe score a few bucks along the way, we’ve done our job.
