The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open offers fantasy managers some diverse options for putting together a viable fantasy team.

The Scottish Open Play-On fantasy game is one of many fantasy cricket and golf games available through the European Tour web site’s game lobby. Some are fee-based and other are fee-free, although only the fee-free games are available to U.S.-based managers. This week fantasy managers can play both John Deere Classic and Scottish Open teams.

For those who aren’t already familiar with these fantasy sports games, one of the more interesting features of the Play-On games is that managers can carry over teams from one event to the next. If you find the right combination and the players on your team are in the field for subsequent events, much of your background research and – admit it, guesswork – doesn’t need to be repeated.

For the Scottish Open and next week as well for The Open, this carry-over feature probably won’t work quite as well as for other European Tour events simply because a number of American and European players who typically play PGA TOUR events are in the field. So the options are somewhat more diverse, and more complicated.

That said, here’s how I’m approaching my seven-player fantasy team for the Scottish Open.
