Rafa Cabrera Bello, €19.9m

Rafa Cabrera Bello isn’t the most expensive player in the field, but he’s a solid player who fits my budget and it’s hard to get that 4th round albatross at THE PLAYERS out of my mind.

Cabrera Bello is a bargain compared to the salaries of Rory McIlroy, who at €22.0m is the priciest player in the field – that’s fairly steep for a guy who’s having trouble making the cut – or Alex Noren (€21.6m), who’s a far more popular pick than McIlroy.

The Spaniard hasn’t established a particularly high finish at the Scottish Open, but he’s consistently made the cut, which is certainly a start in the right direction, and given his SG: putting 0.861 for the season, he’s very likely to collect some points for my team.

Still, Cabrera Bello is a bit of a risk. He hasn’t found a top-10 finish since the Hero Indian Open last December, so if you’re looking for a player with a strong record of recent high finishes you may want to spend the money for Noren or Rickie Fowler (€21.3m) and cut your costs elsewhere.

I’m satisfied that Cabrera Bello will get the job done for my team.
