Edoardo Molinari, €9.2m

Molinari has come back from a series of injuries to reclaim his space on the European Tour with his victory at the Trophée Hassan II last April.

With 10 worldwide victories and a Ryder Cup appearance on his resume Molinari brings enormous experience to his game and his playing stats don’t reveal any deep deficiencies in his game. There’s no technical explanation for the string of missed cuts that followed his April win in Morocco. One might speculate that the seven years between his 2010 victory at the Johnnie Walker Championship and his 2017 Morocco win took their toll in terms of draining his self-confidence.

Still, a guy who can win at Gleneagles is more than capable of competing at Dundonald. Molinari has the potential to deliver this week and while he’s a risk I’m willing to take a chance on him. If Molinari is too risky for you, give some thought to SSP Chawrasia. I know he’s not an especially popular fantasy pick, but he’s a solid, steady player.
