Here are a few names Chez Reavie is ahead of in the FedEx Cup rankings: Adam Scott, Rory McIlroy, J.B. Holmes and Jimmy Walker. At No. 60, Reavie has all but locked up his card for 2017-18 thanks to three top-10s this season, most recently a T4 at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in June.

Reavie comes in off two weeks rest to a place he’s played well in the past. He shot a 62 and led after 36 holes in 2011 en route to a T5. He made the cut in four of his other five starts dating back to 2008, including a T15 in 2013.

He’s riding four straight cuts and is among those gunning for a spot in the Open Championship awarded to the high finisher in the top 10 not already qualified.

Reavie’s not the longest guy on Tour by any stretch (281.8 yards, 166th on the PGA Tour), but he is one of the straightest (70.95%, 4th). TPC Deere Run is a modest 7,268-yard par-71 with soft greens that diminish some of the challenge shorter hitters face with longer iron approach shots.

This week seems as good a time as ever for the 35-year-old to claim his first win since 2008.
