Matt Fitzpatrick, OWGR – 38

With three victories already on his resume Fitzpatrick is an emerging star on the European Tour. His most recent win, at the DP World Tour Championship last November, firmly established him as a dominant figure in the worldwide game.

Since Dubai Fitzpatrick has found the top-20 five times and he’s twice finished inside the top-5, at the Dubai Desert Classic and the Nordea Masters. Confronting fierce competition he made the cut at both The Masters (solo 32nd) and the U.S. Open (T35). His missed cut at the Open de France, coming the week after his Erin Hills performance, is nothing more than a combination of exhaustion and jet lag.

Fitzpatrick is well ahead of the field in driving accuracy and GIR and he’ll need both this week at Dundonald Links, where the payoff will come not with distance but with accuracy.

Matt Fitzpatrick will be looking to add a fourth victory to his record this week. The field is a strong one but the Englishman is a skilled links player and won’t be easily outplayed.
