Paul Casey Open Championship DraftKings

Paul Casey has just about everything you look for in a player who can contend at Royal Birkdale. He’s not a tremendously long hitter, but he hits fairways at a decent clip (65.44%, ranked 43rd on the PGA Tour). He’s striking the ball in fantastic form, reaching over 70 percent of his greens in regulation. Casey also ranks 12th in adjusted scoring average, and fifth in par-4 scoring.

Why, then, is he only going for $8,100 on DraftKings? I’m not sure either, but he’ll be on my roster this week, and I think he’s one of the best players in the field for a potential return on investment.

The only thing that you might look at as the slightest downside is Casey’s recent form in The Open. The 39-year-old is in his third year as a full-time PGA Tour member, and he hasn’t been playing links golf consistently. However, I don’t think that’s nearly enough of a concern to scare you off from Casey this week.

If you’re still on the fence, though, just remember this: Casey has two career top-tens in The Open. One of them came in 2010 at St. Andrews. The other – 2008 at Royal Birkdale. Recent form plus a little positive history is never a bad combination.
