We’re getting into the super-premium players here, and who better to look at if you have some extra spending money this week than Tommy Fleetwood? All the pieces are in place, and while he doesn’t yet carry the name value of a Dustin Johnson or Jordan Spieth, if ever there was a week for him to make a professional leap, it’s right here, right now.

You want skills that translate to links golf? Fleetwood is currently 12th on the European Tour in driving accuracy, second in greens in regulation, and fourth in scoring average.

You like to pick someone who’s peaking at the right time? Since placing fourth at the U.S. Open, Fleetwood has played three European Tour events. He tied for sixth at the BMW International Open, won the HNA Open de France, and tied for tenth at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. He probably would have contended at the Scottish Open, too, if he didn’t need to rest after all that golf.

And then, of course, there’s Fleetwood’s experience at Royal Birkdale, literally minutes from where he grew up.

Literally the only thing that might keep me from playing Fleetwood in Daily Fantasy this week? If I’m in a tournament setting, where I imagine better than half of my opponents will have him too. Even then, I’m not sure this is a guy you want to skip at The Open.
