TROON, SCOTLAND – JULY 14: Alexander Levy of France reacts to his second shot on the 16th hole during day two of the AAM Scottish Open at Dundonald Links Golf Course on July 14, 2017 in Troon, Scotland. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images) /

If Alexander Levy wants to compete in his native France at the 2018 Ryder Cup, a high finish this week could do wonders.

It’s not as if he’s far from consideration. At No. 79 in the world and with a win at the Volvo China Open this season, the 26-year-old is emerging as one of the European Tour’s young, marketable stars.

Levy owns four European Tour wins in four seasons. The next step is competing on the big stage as he’s only qualified for five majors, his best being a T27 at the 2015 U.S. Open.

A Saturday 76 spoiled his chances to compete in last week’s links trial run en route to a T26 at the Scottish Open.

He’s been steady all season with 10 made cuts in 13 starts with the ability to post some low numbers (he shot 61 on the way to winning the 2014 Portugal Masters).

If nothing else, Levy seems like a strong candidate to be the guy to jump up and post a low number on Thursday before coming back to the field as conditions grow tougher.
