Connor Syme is slotted in at 6:47 a.m. by way of his performance at the Gailes Links. The Scottish amateur shot a 67 in the event’s final round to clinch his spot in the Major.

Zero bogies and a birdie-eagle combo on holes 13 and 14 helped staple him to the top of the qualifying tournament’s leaderboard.

Syme told BBC Sports that he is excited to gain experience as an amateur, though he is a bit of a pro when it comes to staring down the tee box as a spectator.

“I have been going to the Open since 2004 at Troon. Me and my dad always went, normally on the Friday as there are more golfers, and I always managed to get a T-shirt. It’s special.”

He’ll be there Friday, once again.

Tee time (EST): 6:47 a.m.
