Canadian Open top 10 power rankings
The fate of a Canadian winning on home soil for the first time since Pat Fletcher in 1954 likely falls on Adam Hadwin’s shoulders.
We first got a glimpse of Hadwin when he tied for 37th in his Canadian Open debut in 2010. He followed it up with a T4 in 2011 and owns a T7 at Glen Abbey in 2015.
Hadwin is a lock for the International Presidents Cup team thanks to a win at the Valspar Championship this spring. His results have curtailed a bit since then, but he’s consistently a reliable pick at this event.
The 29-year-old from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, showed he can go low by shooting a 59 at the Career Builder Challenge early this season.
Hadwin should be rested for this week after missing the cut last week at the Open after three weeks of rest. He had three weeks off before the Career Builder this year.
He’s the highest-ranked of 13 Canadians in the field. A wild card to watch is Jared du Toit, who made the final group on Sunday as an amateur in 2016. He turned pro in June.
