With two victories and 8 additional top-10 finishes this season, So Yeon Ryu looks to be at the top of her game and if she’s dialed in this week there isn’t anybody in the field who’ll be able to outplay her.
Ryu is accurate off the tee, rarely finds trouble, seems to arrive at the putting surface well ahead of the competition, and then finish off each hole effortlessly. All her playing stats are lined up and predict success. She ranks 3rd on the Tour in GIR, 12th in putts per GIR, 3rd in overall scoring average, and 7th in rounds under par.
While this is her Ladies Scottish Open debut, Ryu has the kind of game that adapts easily and readily. She’s not dependent on power and she plays with persistence, consistency, and patience. She’s quick to take advantage of opportunity and not easily upended by the inevitable vagaries of the game.
I’m looking for Ryu to please all of us with some very fine golf this week.
