Moriya Jutanugarn hasn’t finished outside the top-20 in her last six LPGA starts and twice she’s finished inside the top-5. GolfStats has her ranked 3rd among Tour players, right behind Sung Hyun Park and So Yeon Ryu, in current performance.

Jutanugarn, who was the 2013 Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year, is still on the hunt for her first pro victory and until this season has been largely overshadowed by her younger sister, Ariya. However, both Ariya’s and Moriya’s performances have improved dramatically since they began working with swing coach Gary Gilchrist and Vision54 mental coaches Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott after the 2016 Tour Championship last November.

The numbers tell the tale. While her long game is just slightly better than average, Moriya is burning it up around the green and on the putting surface. She ranked 24th on the Tour in GIR and it gets even better when she pulls out her flatstick. She ranks 5th in putts per GIR (1.74), 8th in putting average (28.70 putts per round), and 6th in scoring average (69.53). She leads the Tour in rounds under par (52) and total number of birdies for the season (269).

This will be Moriya’s Ladies Scottish Open debut and she’s coming to Dundonald Links with little real experience playing links golf. Will she be able to convert the lessons she’s learned in recent months on managing parkland-style tracks to links golf? I’m betting on it.
