Sei Young Kim’s game is trending in the right direction. She’s gone from a missed cut at the Volvik Championship last May to a string of three consecutive top-10 finishes, beginning at the KPMG WOmen’s PGA Championship and ending at the U.S. Women’s Open.

It’s significant that Kim is contending right now at championship-level golf. The 2015 Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year has put six victories on her résumé since she joined the Tour and while she’s missed some cuts at major championships she’s also enjoyed some high finishes. I’m seeing Kim’s game evolve into a consistent, steady, high caliber delivery, and while there are still some weaknesses that are holding her back – most notably her putting – she’s gotten increasingly more skilled at moving the ball from tee to green.

Coming into the Ladies Scottish Open Kim ranks 4th on the Tour in GIR (77.32%) and 7th in rounds under par. This will be her first encounter with Dundonald Links but not her first encounter with links golf and I’m looking for her to deliver a very competitive game.

Can she win? Certainly. Will she win? That will depend on her putting, the luck of the golf gods, and what kind of games Shanshan Feng and So Yeon Ryu bring to the tee.
