Adam Hadwin had one of the hotter starts to the year in 2017. He shot 59 in the third round of the CareerBuilder Challenge back in January, finishing second in the process. Over the following two months, Hadwin became a legitimate force in PGA TOUR circles, winning the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course, and following that with a sixth-place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

It’s startling, perhaps, how much times have changed since then. After the RBC Heritage in April, Hadwin has gone eight starts without even coming particularly close to a top-25 finish. Hadwin hasn’t been terribly accurate lately, ranking just 82nd on TOUR in greens in regulation. That being said, I believe that this is a week where Hadwin can find his game and recommit to finishing the year as strong as it started.

Hadwin is a proud native of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. While us Americans may not be able to truly appreciate the importance of this event, it is Canada’s national championship. 2017 will mark Hadwin’s eighth consecutive start in this event, and while it may not be an official major, there’s a much greater significance hanging in the balance. Other Canadians have come close, but none have finished the job since Pat Fletcher in 1954.

That’s 63 years of pressure building up, but look for Hadwin to rise to the occasion, instead of crumbling under pressure.
