All things considered, Phachara Khongwatmai’s rookie campaign has gone nicely.

The 19-year-old has himself in the coveted top 100 on the money list. He’s going for his fourth straight made cut in a standard European Tour event after missing the cut in his second Open Championship start last week.

He did hole a shot from a pot bunker, so last week’s stint at Royal Birkdale wasn’t a complete wash.

Khongwatmai burst onto the scene in 2017 by finishing ahead of the likes of Adam Scott and Hideto Tanihara with a T2 at the Singapore Open on the Asian and Japan Tour. A few weeks later, Khongwatmai advanced through stroke play and match play to take second at the inaugural World Super 6 Perth.

Khongwatmai is No. 3 on the Asian Tour order of merit.

Not a long hitter, Khongwatmai will likely rely on his short game, as seen above, to get around this week’s par-73, 7,831 parkland style track.
