The FedEx Cup race has a new leader, as Jordan Spieth unseats Dustin Johnson atop the leaderboard

The FedEx Cup points race has been a one-man show all year. That is, until now. Dustin Johnson’s three early-season wins locked him in at No. 1 in both the PGA TOUR season rank, and the official world rank. However, after the third major of the season, we have a new leader atop the board.

That man, of course, is Jordan Spieth. Back-to-back wins at the Travelers Championship, and then at Royal Birkdale earned Spieth a whopping 1,100 points, and it’s safe to say the very tone of the playoff race has changed. Gone is any level of comfort that season-long powers like Johnson, Hideki Matsuyama and Justin Thomas had. This is going to be a fight to the finish, no doubt about it.

Spieth’s move from fourth to first is the biggest shake-up in the top ten this week. Most of the rest of the field has remained steady in their spot, with only brief week-to-week adjustments being made.

There are just four regular-season events left for players to lock in their positioning for the FedEx Cup playoffs. How will things shake out? We’re taking a look at each of the top ten players, and what they could do going forward.
