Brooks Koepka’s win at the U.S. Open sealed what many of us knew for a long time: this guy is the real deal, and his decision to hone his craft in Europe has paid off at last. And what better way to follow up that showing than with a top-ten finish at Royal Birkdale a month later? That would have been a feat for the ages any way you look at it.

Now a season that started off in less than stellar fashion – four missed cuts before the Masters – has the potential to carry Koepka to the FedEx Cup. It wasn’t always the prettiest, but Koepka’s raw talent has blossomed into a complete, dominant game.

Koepka has finished in the top-25 in six of his last nine starts. Next week, he’ll look to build on his success at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. In 2015, he finished tied for sixth place in his Firestone debut. Last year, he was a strong favorite before suffering an ankle injury and being forced to withdraw.

Healthy this year, and on top of his game, Koepka should force the top contenders in the FedEx Cup race to stay aggressive down the stretch. If they slip at all, he’ll be right there to pick up the slack…and potentially the $10 million prize at the end.
