I always like to make space for at least one premium player in my lineup on DraftKings, and this week, I’m rolling with Rickie Fowler. Don’t get me wrong, I think Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson will put on a show, but when it comes to DFS, I don’t think there’s enough of a difference there to justify the extra $1,000 in salary.

Fowler comes to Firestone with a nearly identical course history to Rory McIlroy. Fowler has four top-ten finishes at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in his last six trips. He currently ranks second on the PGA TOUR in adjusted scoring, and fourth in birdie average – always a solid combo for daily fantasy value.

At Firestone, Fowler has played seven of his last 12 rounds under par, with 2016’s second and third rounds (73-72) marred by poor weather. Akron is in line for some potentially severe weather this week, but if play is delayed entirely, it could serve to simply open up the narrow fairways and soften the speedy greens. In other words, scoring could flourish, even if it happens later than planned.

Building your lineup around Fowler gives you nearly uncapped potential, at a price that will allow you to spend a bit more freely on the lower end. That’s a perfect win-win scenario.
