The Duke University product may be an amateur, but exposure to big-time golf tournaments is not limited.

Maguire shot a 282 during last year’s 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro for her home country of Ireland. The four-day total left her tied for 21st place, including a second round 65 that pushed her into early contention.

While in college, this Blue Devil was a three-time Women’s Golf Coach Association (WGCA) First Team All-American. She also was named the 2016-2017 WGCA Player of the Year.

She was also the recipient of the Mark H. McCormack Medal as top women’s golfer in 2015 and 2016 WGCA rankings.

Maguire is also your current Ladies British Open Amateur Champion.

And she has been here (the tournament, not location) before.

Maguire carded a four-under during last year’s British Open, tying her for 25th place.

In 2017, a 78 on Day 2 of the U.S. Open doomed her to miss the cut, but a 3-over first round had Maguire in the thick of things for 24 hours.

History shows she may be there for even longer this weekend.
