Each golfer winning this prestigious major carries plenty of intrigue as a storyline. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better one than an English amateur in the Sunday afternoon winner’s circle.

Last year, that is exactly where Lamb was standing during the British Women’s stroke play championship.

She was the only young golfer of the group to beat par.

Her strategy: play solid and let the field chase her.

“I was focused on playing my own game and trying to give myself chances. I didn’t want to get sucked in to having to make a birdie here or there – and it was good!”

Lamb will attempt to become the first English golfer to win the British Women’s Open since 2004 when Karen Stupples won her lone by five shots.

If Lamb gets off to a clean start, her storyline will get plenty interesting heading into Friday and additional weekend golf.
