Lexi Thompson is making her 3rd Solheim Cup appearance this year at Des Moines GCC.  She will be a formidable competitor.

At the 2013 Solheim Cup, then 18-year old Lexi Thompson managed to put only a single point on the board for the USA, defeating Caroline Masson 4 & 3 in her singles match. She didn’t play either of the foursomes matches and, playing with Stacy Lewis and Paula Creamer, both Solheim Cup veterans, lost both fourball matches.

By 2015 Thompson’s game had matured and she delivered a much stronger performance at St. Leon-Rot. Paired with Cristie Kerr, Thompson unleashed a powerful, aggressive game in both fourball and foursomes competition. The Kerr-Thompson team played in three of the four matches, won one and halved two. Playing against Carlota Ciganda in the singles match, one of the most experienced and skilled match play competitors on either team, Lexi held steady and halved the match.

Look for Captain Inkster to again pair Thompson with Cristie Kerr in the fourball and foursomes matches and look for Thompson to make a significant contribution to the Team USA points this year in Des Moines.
