Stacy Lewis is making her 4th Solheim Cup appearance this year. Although her personal record for the 2017 season is, at best, no more than average, Lewis has the ability to infuse enthusiasm in the team effort. She’s an effective balance against the potential for hubris that could spoil a team coming to Des Moines as the defending champion and the favorite.

As a Solheim Cup rookie Lewis delivered a relatively weak performance in 2011 at Killen Castle, putting only 1 point on the board for the Americans when she and captain’s pick Ryann O’Toole, also a Solheim Cup rookie, won their fourball match against two European Solheim Cup rookies, Sandra Gal and Christal Boeljon.

In 2013 Lewis contributed 1.5 points to the American effort at Colorado Golf Club when she and Paula Creamer won their foursomes match and she halved her singles match against Anna Nordqvist.

Lewis and Gerina Piller proved to be a dynamic pairing at St. Leon-Rot in 2015, winning both their fourball and foursomes matches, although in that amazing Sunday comeback Team USA staged Lewis lost to Anna Nordqvist.
