Gerina Piller is making her 3rd Solheim Cup appearance this year and she’s proven herself to be a valuable, even crucial member of Team USA.

Piller’s rookie Solheim Cup appearance at Colorado Golf Club was unimpressive although, to be fair, the entire Team USA performance at Colorado GC was unimpressive.  Still, paired with Angela Stanford, the duo was unable to squeeze even a half point from their fourball match against Caroline Masson and Caroline Hedwall or their foursomes match against Azahara Muñoz and Carlota Ciganda. Only in her singles match against Catriona Matthew was Piller able to hold her own and put half a point on the board.

It was a different story in 2015 at St. Leon-Rot. Piller matched Cristie Kerr’s high of 3.5 points for Team USA. She and Stacy Lewis proved unstoppable when teamed for both foursomes and fourball matches and Piller saved the Team USA Sunday comeback rally with a clutch up and down that had Team USA fans in a state of collective global cardiac arrest.

Look for a reprise pairing of Piller and Lewis this year at Des Moines in the fourball and foursomes matches. Captain Inkster can’t ignore the synergy of this pair.
