PGA Championship: DraftKings lineup tips for Quail Hollow
We saw a little bit of extra competitive fire out of Charley Hoffman this weekend at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Trailing Hideki Matsuyama down the stretch at Firestone, Hoffman had a choice to make. Facing a 280-yard approach on the “Monster” 16th, he could take a safe layup, make no worse than par, and maybe hope Matsuyama gave one back. Or, pull the three-wood out, give it a rip and see what happens.
Hoffman put it best when TOUR cameras caught the conversation with his caddie. “I’m trying to win a golf tournament here,” Hoffman said. “I’m tired of finishing second.”
Sure, he ripped his shot through the green – adrenaline will do that to a player – but it was the kind of aggressive attitude that can pay off when facing a field of nothing but the world’s top players.
With a DraftKings price of $7,600, Hoffman is one of the best bets out there in the mid-range salary market. Hoffman has four top-tens in his last six starts, and 13 top-25 finishes in 26 starts in 2017. He ranks tenth on TOUR in birdie-or-better percentage, and third in eagles. Those are fantasy points you don’t want to leave on the board.
