Stroud could very well fizzle out this week, but he’s worth keeping an eye on if you want to ride the hot hand.
The 35-year-old Texan has played the best golf of his career this month, winning the Barracuda Championship to earn a spot into the PGA Championship, where he tied for ninth and made the final pairing on Sunday.
Stroud hasn’t had the best success at Sedgefield. He’s missed six of nine cuts there and his best finish was a T37 in 2013.
He seems to have a game set up adequately for the par-70, 7,100-yard track. Accuracy is rewarded over distance at Sedgefield and Stroud is 32nd on tour in fairways hit (65.59%). If Stroud can get the putter going on these fast Bermuda greens, his short game has carried him well up to this point.
