Chris Stroud is something of a two-sided story when it comes to your Fantasy lineup this week. On one hand, he just won the Barracuda Championship, and he made an absolutely incredible run at the PGA Championship. His tie for ninth was his first top-ten major finish, in just his ninth career major start.

The other side of this argument is obvious. The pressure of playing in Sunday’s final group at Quail Hollow may have simply been too much. Stroud shot 68-68 in the first two rounds of the PGA, but wound up shooting five-over 76 on Sunday to slide from second into a tie for ninth. It’s still an incredible finish, but how much did it take out of him?

We’ll have out answer to that soon enough, but as tough as that finish was on Sunday, it never felt like Stroud was outdone by the moment. The competition coming from the likes of Justin Thomas, let alone Patrick Reed or Rickie Fowler, would have been tough for anybody to hold up to.

Statistically, Stroud is solid when he keeps the ball in play (32nd in driving accuracy), yet he ranks just 74th in proximity to the hole from the fairway. His week at the Wyndham will come down to putting. If he’s on, he can make birdies in bunches, and Stroud ranks 31st in birdie average.

Stroud has a chance to do something special heading into this year’s FedEx Cup Playoffs. Look for him to carry whatever momentum he has left through this week. At just $8,600, he’s well worth the investment.
