Wyndham Championship Bud Cauley

Bud Cauley earns himself a near-premium salary this week at the Wyndham, but even at $9,200, he’s worth the investment at or near the top of your roster. Despite a relative lack of accuracy off the tee – Cauley hits just under 60 percent of his fairways – he gives himself a surprising number of scoring opportunities.

Ranked 47th in greens in regulation, Cauley ranks 20th in proximity from the rough, and just 101st from the fairway. In other words, he’s punished less for misses than the vast majority of his competition. With Bermuda rough that can get as long as two inches, and humid conditions expected all weekend, this will be something to keep an eye on.

Cauley’s biggest draw this week could also be looked at as his biggest weakness. In 24 starts this year, Cauley has made just 15 cuts, but he’s sprinkled five top-ten finishes in there, going back-to-back at the Zurich Classic and the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Cauley finished third here in 2012, missed the cut in 2013 and 2014, then returned to finish tenth in 2016. The former Alabama star may not follow in Tide teammate Justin Thomas’s victorious footsteps this week, but he’s a strong contender to give you a big return on investment in daily fantasy.
