The Wyndham Championship is the last chance for players on the bubble of the FedEx Cup to solidify their position. These sleepers will look to rise to the occasion at Sedgefield.

This year’s PGA TOUR season has been incredible from the start, and the Wyndham Championship should be no different. This week’s sleeper picks will be unique, as so much of this week’s field could be called “sleepers” any other week.

The reasoning is simple. Most of the players who have already locked in their positioning for the FedEx Cup Playoffs are taking this week off, for rest, practice, or just a bonus week at home. Add to that the extra motivation of players trying to lock up their TOUR card, and you’ve got the formula for an incredibly competitive week.

According to Mike McAlister of PGATOUR.com, pretty much anybody who has even the slightest chance of being affected by this week’s results is at Sedgefield. Only two players of the 42 currently outside the Playoffs looking in – Michael Thompson and Jim Furyk – are absent. Every player from 112 to 125 is in to defend their spot.

That’s not to say breaking in will be easy. Only eight players have played their way in at the Wyndham over the last four years. Five of those did so in 2015. That year, the 126th-ranked player, Will Mackenzie, missed the Playoffs by less than one point.

If that’s not enough to prove that every stroke matters this week, nothing will.

While there are a handful of big names playing this week, including Henrik Stenson and Kevin Kisner, this week’s sleepers all come from the bubble.

Time is going to run out for these players soon, so let’s jump right in.
