Fantasy golf: Made in Denmark PlayOn team tips

The European Tour’s PlayOn fantasy golf game calls for a 7-player team – check out our tips for a winning team this week.

Fantasy golf managers are facing some interesting choices as they put their Made In Denmark team together.  I’ve based my fantasy tips for the event on the European Tour’s PlayOn game, but my reasons for specific selections will apply to other fantasy golf games as well.

Although he’s not a favorite to win, Thomas Bjørn will certainly be a favorite among the local gallery who follow him from behind the ropes. The Great Dane, 2018 Ryder Cup captain, will be making his 500th European Tour start at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort’s Backtee Course this week. Assume that Bjørn will be keeping an eye on a number of likely Ryder Cup hopefuls as he plays his own game.

This is the fourth time Himmerland has hosted the Made in Denmark so for most of the field it’s a known track. While it’s an inland rather a coastal layout in northern Jutland, it has a links feel to it. When the winds are up, its 7382 yards can play much longer. The skilled links players should come to the tee with a bit of an advantage.

Thomas Pieters, the defending champion and the oddsmakers’ favorite to notch back-to-back wins, is flanked by several high value players in the PlayOn lineup.  With many of the European Tour’s strongest players currently competing in the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup playoffs, some less well-known players will have an opportunity this week to make a strong showing and improve their Race to Dubai standing.
