Dell Technologies Championship: Power Ranking the top ten at TPC Boston
To say that Patrick Reed hasn’t exactly been his usual self lately would be putting it simply. So far, he’s still winless for the first time in his PGA TOUR career. With just two or three more tournaments left to remedy that situation, expect Reed to come out swinging like none other at the Dell Technologies Championship.
In all honesty, a little bit of fire might be all it takes to get Reed to make a run out in Boston this week. Despite the “slump” he’s been experiencing this season, Reed still has 13 top-25 finishes and just four missed cuts so far. He’s got three worldwide top-25 finishes in his last four starts alone, and just two weeks ago, he finished second at the PGA Championship, making a legitimate run at his first major title. The pieces are all clearly there, but they haven’t come together in perfect form just yet.
Reed heads to Boston knowing that he needs a strong showing one of these next two tournaments in order to even get his crack at the Tour Championship at East Lake. That’s good news, though. Each of the last two years, Reed has notched top-five finishes at TPC Boston, and he’s doing it with vastly, ridiculously improved work on the greens, ranked ninth in strokes gained: putting.
This story is pretty straightforward. Keep up the killer putting, earn some hefty rewards. I think Reed will find a way to get back on track soon, as early as this week.
