Adam Scott is back in action this week at the Dell Technologies Championship, after taking time away from the PGA TOUR to be with his wife as they awaited the arrival of their second child.

Adam and Marie welcomed their new son, Byron, to the world on Aug. 23, and that’s when business picked back up for Scott. His original plan was to take off the time between the PGA Championship and the BMW Championship, but a fall to 73rd in the FedEx Cup rankings forced Scott’s hand.

He could take the time off as planned, ending his season early. Or, he could get back into action at TPC Boston, and take his fate into his own hands. Even with a brand-new baby at home, that decision looks like it was never really in doubt.

Professionally speaking, there’s no better place to be for Scott than TPC Boston this week. Family should always come first, but Scott has a chance to turn around a season that hasn’t lived fully up to his expectations.

In his last six trips to TPC Boston, Scott has finished inside the top-ten four times, with a T-16 in 2014 to round out the streak of success. Despite the lean year, Scott still ranks 16th on TOUR in strokes gained: tee-to-green, and 14th in adjusted scoring. At just $7,900, he’s far too good of a value to pass up.
