BMW Championship Power Rankings: Top ten at Conway Farms
Justin Thomas has worked his way into a position where he can arguably be the top guy in any field he enters. Before 2017, he always had limitless potential to be one of golf’s best players, but now that he’s got some big wins under his belt, some of his loftiest goals have suddenly been realized.
Winning his first major championship? Check. Becoming a top-five player in the world? Check. First U.S. international team appearance? Check.
Most players would be thrilled to call what Thomas has done this year a successful career. Of course, for the 24-year-old University of Alabama product, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Or at least, that’s the plan.
Thomas still (somewhat unfairly) may not get the attention he deserves, but all of that will change if he can finish this run to the FedEx Cup title. He’s won two of his last three starts, and he’s scored in the 60s in 10 of those 12 rounds. Thomas closed the weekend out at the Dell Technologies Championship in high form, shooting 63-66 to go 13-under-par, separating himself from his friend (and runner-up) Jordan Spieth.
Thomas made this trip to Conway Farms back in 2015, tying for 13th place in his first FedEx Cup Playoff experience. If he can carry over his ridiculous streak of scoring over after the week off, don’t be surprised to see him hoisting yet another trophy on Sunday.
