Even with just 70 players remaining in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, an unsung hero could still emerge this week at Conway Farms

We’re down to the final two FedEx Cup Playoffs events. Only 70 players remain, and all have had at least stretches of good golf to make it to the BMW Championship this week.

Some players can still fly under the radar up to this point as the biggest cut in the playoffs is made down to 30 for next week’s Tour Championship.

I’ve got five players in mind who could parlay recent form to catapult into the top 30. A spot in Atlanta next week is invaluable as it exempts the field into the next year’s majors, offers a guaranteed tournament paycheck along with other perks.

A lot’s on the line this week and through two events it’s been blue bloods Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas winning. Another top-10 player, Jason Day, is back to defend his 2015 BMW Championship at Conway.

It’s not too late to turn the tide and get a win column for the underdogs in a season where they haven’t been numerous.

Here’s my take on five who could break the trend this week.
