The Major Series of Putting will become one of golf’s great new series of events starting next month in October. The championship course is set, and there’s a cool way to view each hole.

The exciting Major Series of Putting is near, as qualifying has wrapped up all around the country, and sites will be set in Las Vegas, where the big events will take place. The MSOP looks to complete the trifecta in the golf universe of traditional play, long drive and putting competitions.

What makes the MSOP so unique is that it will be under the lights in a beautiful new, small stadium in lovely downtown Vegas. It also will truly introduce golf fans to hidden gems, known as putting courses.

The Himalayas located on the Old Course at St. Andrews is the world’s oldest, and most famous putting course. Anyone can step foot on the legendary design, exclusive to the almighty flat stick.

The course in Vegas is a design by the great Jack Nicklaus and his team. Best of all, anyone can qualify and put their putters to the test in the local events. From there, you may have a shot at playing under the stars in Sin City.

This also gives players a chance to test themselves against a Nicklaus masterpiece. One of the greatest putters of all-time, Nicklaus knows his greens.

There are a couple of cool ways to look at the layout of the course. There’s a beautifully drawn out map of the design that you can view here.

As you can tell, the course will feature numerous breaks, thanks to some unique contouring. There are also two tees you can play from based on what officials decide on. This is a great way to alter the layout.

There is even a playoff area that has three totally different holes. So, if a playoff does happen, there won’t be any advantages for players.

If a golfer is red hot on the back nine and forces a playoff, that player can go ice cold, as he or she will be presented with a completely different mini layout. The Nicklaus design is a masterpiece, and may soon be one of the best courses in tournament golf, despite its size.

Just because it’s not a full-blown, ridiculously expensive, private 18-hole course, doesn’t mean it isn’t a gem. Much like the Volvik World Long Drive Championship, the Major Series of Putting can become a major championship outside of the world of traditional golf.

Below are a few cool videos showing off the toughest holes on the course in 3D:

These holes alone are a great example of the rich strategic variety that the course offers. The three trickiest holes are a few spots apart, showing how much the course alters in design.

Not only is Jack Nicklaus’ hands on this course, one of the top five best putters of all-time, Brad Faxon, is has played a big role in the event. He will host an All-Pro tournament in Vegas when the all the matches take place.

No doubt that this will be a golf tournament unlike any other in the world, particularly because of the setting and course layout. Have your flat sticks and maybe you’ll have a shot at reaching the glory land of Las Vegas.
