Kevin Chappell made quite the impact in the 2016 TOUR Championship. In his first trip to East Lake, Chappell held a share of the 54-hole lead alongside Dustin Johnson. Playing with one of the world’s best, Chappell outplayed DJ by seven shots on that Sunday, but he was caught by Rory McIlroy and Ryan Moore.

Chappell made it just one hole into what turned out to be a four-hole playoff, and McIlroy wound up hoisting the FedEx Cup at the end of the day. However, that’s the kind of confidence boost you really don’t get anywhere outside the biggest tournaments.

Chappell isn’t going to turn many heads in DFS most weeks. Even with his victory at the Valero Texas Open on the resume, he’s got his share of holes in the game – namely, a lack of true consistency. However, he heads into the season finale with several strong performances in the last two months, including top-15 finishes in four of his last six. At the BMW Championship, his 22 birdies were second-most in the field. Nine bogeys and an ugly quad didn’t help, but the chances are there often enough.

As is so often the case in fantasy golf, you can’t win by just playing chalk. Chappell could be the guy that gives you the needed edge in your games this week.
