INCHEON CITY, SOUTH KOREA – OCTOBER 10: Charl Schwartzel of the International Team celebrates his putt on the 13th green to win the hole over Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson of the United States Team during the Saturday foursomes matches at The Presidents Cup at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea on October 10, 2015 in Songdo IBD, Incheon City, South Korea. The 33-year-old South African is making his fourth Presidents Cup appearance. His 14 matches played are third on the team only behind Adam Scott (35) and Jason Day (15).

“I’ve been playing really well and I’m starting to get into good shape,” Schwartzel told Sport 24. “I normally do well after having a week off, so I’m really looking forward to playing at the Presidents Cup.”

Schwartzel has had a nice season collecting three top-10s, including a second- and third-place finish, against four missed cuts in 19 events. His third came at The Masters.

His consistency throughout the year is echoed in his statistics. Schwartzel is in the top 60 of four of the five major strokes gained categories with exception to off-the-tee. He can be wayward off the tee (171th driving accuracy) which could be an issue, but his length (47th driving distance) is an asset if his tee shots are in play.

Schwartzel enters with a week off with a T27 his last result at the BMW Championship. Before that, he made six cuts in a row highlighted by a T12 at the Porsche European Open.

In 2015, Schwartzel and Thongchai Jaidee blew by Bill Haas and Chris Kirk in fourball. Schwartzel finished 1-3, though, losing with Jason Day against formidable duos of Dustin Johnson/Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed/Spieth and then Phil Mickelson in singles.
