Brendan Steele isn’t a household name to the casual PGA TOUR fan, but if recent history is any indicator, these next couple months could be very good to him.

Of course, we’d be remiss to ignore the defending champion from Silverado a year ago. Steele had a pretty magical week overall, ranking 11th in strokes gained: tee-to-green, and sixth in strokes gained: putting. With just four bogeys and a single double bogey on the card, you’d be hard-pressed to recreate that performance.

Clearly Steele is getting comfortable at Silverado. The win last year was his third straight top-25, and he had been steadily improving each year. If you’re looking for a perfect “horse for the course” candidate (or perhaps someone you won’t use later in your Fantasy league…just saying), you could do far worse.

Steele finished the 2016-17 PGA TOUR campaign 33rd in the FedEx Cup race, narrowly missing out on a shot at the TOUR Championship. He had four top ten finishes, but three came before the end of January, with the fourth at The PLAYERS in May. He’ll certainly be working to turn that around in 2017-18, but 500 FedEx Cup points count the same wherever they’re won. Count on Steele for a top showing once again this week.
