Safeway Open Power Rankings Chez Reavie

Chez Reavie not only has one of the best names in all of golf, but he’s also got a strong game, and it’s well-suited for the PGA TOUR season opener at Silverado. Don’t know him yet? You might know him better in just a few days.

Reavie just enjoyed his best TOUR season since 2011. With four top-ten finishes and 11 top-25s through 28 starts, the 35-year-old out of Arizona State made it to the third leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, finishing tied for 12th at the BMW Championship. Although his late-year push came up a little short of making the TOUR Championship, Reavie is carrying over some impressive form into the start of the new PGA TOUR season, with four top-25s in his last six starts.

Silverado could give Reavie a nice boost of comfort, considering his recent performances there as well. Although he could only muster a T53 in his first start there in 2014, he’s been inside the top-25 each of the past two seasons. He put together a bogey-free third round at Silverado a year ago, but four bogeys on the front nine Sunday took him out of true contention.

Reavie can build on a successful 2016-17 campaign immediately this week. He ranked fourth on TOUR in driving accuracy (71.40% of fairways hit) and 40th in greens-in-regulation, holding putting surfaces at a clip greater than 67 percent.

Look for Reavie to be lurking at the top of the leaderboard all weekend long.
