Kevin Na Safeway Open Power Rankings

Kevin Na has done well for himself at the former Frys.com Open in recent years, and this year should be no different. A playoff loss to Emiliano Grillo in 2015 preceded a solo seventh last year, a mere three shots behind winner Brendan Steele.

How close was Na to breaking through for the win at Silverado last year? He made just five bogeys all week. Four of them came in the third round, and he still shot two-under 70 that day. It’s hard to be in stronger form than that at any course, regardless of the field.

Na didn’t have an outstanding season in 2016-17, but he did run off five top-ten finishes, on his way to a 45th-place finish in the FedEx Cup race. He struggled in a tie for 53rd place at the BMW Championship, but take that with a grain of salt. Considering the finish Na would have needed to make the TOUR Championship, he needed to press far more than he would have in other weeks.

Better yet, two of those top-tens came in Na’s last four starts, including a T6 at the Dell Technologies Championship in the Playoffs.

Na knows that he left more than a few opportunities unclaimed last season. Look for him to convert if he finds himself near the to of this week’s leader board.
