Kevin Na heads into the 2016-17 season with high hopes, specifically looking for his first win since the 2011 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. In his second start of the new season, he’ll look to convert on that opportunity this week at the CIMB Classic.

Na opened the 2017-18 campaign in solid fashion, tying for 17th place at the Safeway Open. The 34-year-old will now head to Kuala Lumpur as a solid favorite for the week. Na tied for 29th place at the CIMB last year, coming in at nine-under par, which isn’t terrible by any means, but in an event where scores typically push 20-under, it simply wasn’t enough.

Na knows that, of course. While 2016 wasn’t his year, he was a strong contender in the two years prior. In 2015, Na finished inside the top three in each of his first three starts, including the CIMB Classic. He shot a ridiculous -24 that week, and STILL found himself behind both Justin Thomas and Adam Scott. In 2014, Ryan Moore took the title at -17, and Na found himself in a three-way tie for second with Sergio Garcia and Gary Woodland at -14.

If Na can find a groove like that early this week, he could easily see his name at the top of the leaderboards all weekend. Can he seize opportunity when it presents itself?
