Sanderson Farms Championship: Power Rankings
Los Angeles Dodgers fan JJ Spaun should be in good spirits as his team prepares to make the World Series. If that’s not enough, the 27-year-old LA native should be buoyed by a successful rookie season on the PGA Tour.
Spaun, a San Diego State University product like Rookie of the Year Xander Schauffele, finished 97th in the FedEx Cup. He made 20 of 28 cuts in 2016-17 with three top-10 finishes.
Spaun missed the cut by one in his last start at the Safeway Open, but before that he made four cuts in a row highlighted by a T16 at the Wyndham Championship.
He was top-50 in greens in regulation last season and first from scrambling inside of 10 yards. Spaun was also top 50 in accuracy off the tee, so if he can get the putter rolling (111th strokes gained), he could find himself in contention for the bronze rooster trophy and bounce back from a missed cut at this event in 2016.
