The WGC-HSBC Champions boasts the strongest field – and the biggest prizes – of the fall season. Will a repeat champion top the Power Rankings?

The PGA TOUR has made an outstanding commitment to expanding it’s reach around the world, and few events exemplify that mission more than the WGC-HSBC Champions. The World Golf Championship label has consistently brought out some of golf’s brightest stars, and it’s given both the PGA and European Tours a premier event in the world’s most populous country. The result has been not only some of the best photo ops in all of sports, but also some fantastic golf along the way.

Sheshan International has hosted this tournament every year since 2005, except for the 2012 edition at Mission Hills in Shenzhen. Headliners over the years have included the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, and more. Birdies are typically plentiful, and those friendly scoring conditions also tend to favor some of the biggest hitters, as you’ll see in many of this week’s entries.

While there are four more events remaining on the PGA TOUR’s fall schedule before the December break, this will be the last time many of the top talents tee it up in 2017, and it will certainly be the strongest field, top-to-bottom, that we’ll get before the new year. We’ve got a handful of past champions, some significant rising stars from around the world, and to top it all off, one of the richest purses in the game.

I can’t think of many better ways to head into the real start of fall. Let’s jump into the rankings.
